Mossbauer effect absorbers: Natural Iron, Iron-57 / Fe-57

Mössbauer effect reference absorbers contain either isotopically enriched or natural compounds. These compounds are uniformly dispersed in polyethylene, formed into discs 20 mm in diameter, placed in aluminium holders. Potassium and potassium-magnesium ferrocyanide exhibit unsplit narrow line in Mössbauer absorption spectrum. Ferrous oxalate dihydrate exhibit quadrupole splitting, leading to two narrow lines in Mössbauer absorption spectrum. Metallic iron and iron oxide exhibit magnetic hyperfine splitting, leading to six narrow lines in Mössbauer absorption spectrum. "Black absorber" - a mixture of fluoferrates - exhibits a very wide line in Mössbauer absorption spectrum (G > 1mm/s).

Quality control
All Reference Absorbers are carefully tested with certified high precision equipment. Each absorber is supported by a Test Report with measured values of Mössbauer spectra parameters.
